来自北京100个外来贫困家庭的调查显示,各种类型的外来贫困人口存在着职业层次低、文化程度低、家庭人口多、生活水平低等共同特征,他们流动的主要原因是农村土地资源匮乏和农业劳动力大量过剩,他们处于农村社会和城市生活的边缘化状态,整体上心态比较平和,并不因为自身贫困而对社会有偏激的态度,对自己经验以外的事物没有太多的了解。

As indicated in the survey on 100 poor families immigrated into Beijing, some general features such as low hierarchies in occupation, low levels in education, numerous members in family, and low level in living, could be found in all of these poor families. The main reason for their immigration into Beijing can be attributed to their scarce land resource and the over surplus of agricultural labor. They are placed in the marginal interface linking agricultural society with urban life. With a generally balanced mind, these poor people did not show any radical attitude towards society from any motivation of poverty. They know little about the things outside of their experience.
