Forensic significance of DRD3 gene in schizophrenia

To clarify the etiology and pathogenesis of schizophrenia is one of the most important challenges faced by medicine, and it is also one of the important contents of judicial authentication. The dopamine hypothesis of schizophrenia holds that disorders of the dopaminergic system are the cause of schizophrenia. The regional high expression of DRD3 gene in brain and its positive association with many psychiatric disorders suggest its potential importance in schizophrenia. This paper reviews the research status of DRD3 gene in population genetics, animal models and human cell expression in schizophrenia. It is believed that DRD3 gene is involved in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia and may be used as an important genetic indicator in judicial identification of psychiatric disorders in the future.
