Affiliation: | Rebecca Emerson Dobash is Professor of Social Research, Applied Social Science, at the University of Manchester. Her main area of research is violence and relevant policies and interventions, most recently completing the first national study of Homicide in Britain. Rebecca and Russell Dobash have co-authored books, government reports, and articles, including Violence Against Wives;(1979), The Imprisonment of Women (1986), Women Viewing Violence (1992), Women, Violence and Social Change (1992), Rethinking Violence Against Women (1999), and Changing Violent Men (2000). Awards include the World Congress of Victimology Award for Original Research and Publications, ASC's Distinguished Book Award for Comparative Research, and the August Vollmer Award. Fellowships/grants from the Carnegie, Rockefeller, Fulbright, and HFGuggenheim foundations, ESRC, Home Office, and Scottish Office.
