报刊舆论与乙未反割台斗争研究——以《申报》为中心

《申报》站在台民和中华民族立场上，同情支持台民抗战，其言论着意于倡扬台民的“忠君保台”精神，为台民的自立及成立民主国辩护，声援台民的抗日保台斗争，并塑造、赞扬了刘永福保台护民的英雄形象，提出一些颇有见地的战略战术建议，有力地反驳了《万国公报》等外报对台民抗战的污蔑和指责。特别是《申报》从台民英勇顽强的斗争中，看到了蕴藏在民众中的巨大潜力，预见此乃民族的希望。换约接受后，清廷上层对台湾问题集体失声，《申报》则成为大陆支持台湾抗日的舆论中坚。

The Relation between Public Opinion in Newspapers and Struggle for Resisting the Cession of Taiwan to Japan in 1896: Focus on Reports and Commentaries in Shenbao

Shenbao was the most important Chinese newspaper in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894--1895. After the war, Chinese was forced to ceding Taiwan to Japan. But the Taiwan＇ people struggled strongly against the unfortunate fate. The re- ports and commentaries in Shenbao were in support of Taiwan people, and exculpated for the establishment of Taiwan Democrat- ic Republic,praised Taiwan people for their loyalty to the emperor and defending Taiwan against Japan＇ invasion. In the arti- cles ,Shenbao figured a hero, Liu Yongfu, gave a lot of advice for fighting against Japanese, and rebutted on the vilification on Taiwan people from other newspapers such as Chinese Globe Magazine. In particular,from the struggle of Taiwan＇ people,Shen- bao apperceived Chinese potential, and the hope of Chinese revival. In this time, Shenbao became the nucleus of public opinion, which upheld Taiwan people＇s struggle against Japanese in mainland.
