ADVERTISING AGAINST CRIME: THE POTENTIAL IMPACT OF PUBLICITY IN CRIME PREVENTION

Institution:Scott H. Decker is Curator's Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at UM-St. Louis. He received the BA in Social Justice from DePauw University, and the MA and PhD in Criminology from Florida State University. His main research interests are in the areas of gangs, juvenile justice, criminal justice policy, and the offender's perspective. He is Principal Investigator of the Project Safe Neighborhoods Project in the Eastern District of Missouri and the Southern District of Illinois. He is completing an evaluation of the JAIBG program in St. Louis. His most recent books include Life in the Gang;(Cambridge), Confronting Gangs (Roxbury), Policing Gangs and Youth Violence (Wadsworth), and Responding to Gangs (National Institute of Justice).
