The Role of the Government in Course of Japanese Financial System Development

Looking back on the developmental course of Japanese financial system from the Meiji reformation(1868) to the Koizumi's times(the end of the 20th century),this paper discusses the role of the government in financial system.The thoughts of Japanese financial administration were originated from modern economical development after the Meiji reformation(1868).By learning from the western financial system,Japanese government guided the reform of Japanese financial system.In the process of institutional games,the developmental path of Japanese financial system was formed.The mode of propelling the development of financial system by the force of government is the main reason why Japan can't surpass the western countries after it caught up with them.
