试论东盟与中国建立自由贸易区的动机

对东盟而言,中国经济的迅速崛起,特别是中国加入WTO,既是机遇也是挑战。一方面,中国与东盟之间双边贸易、中国对东盟的投资逐年递增,中国对东盟经济增长的拉动日益加大,而成立自由贸易区可以进一步强化这种双边经贸合作关系,促进东盟的经济发展。另一方面,东盟希望通过建立自由贸易区与中国依据各自的比较优势而进行分工与协作,进而避免在对外出口与吸引外资方面的直接竞争。

On ASEAN''''s Motives for Establishing a Free Trade Area with China

The rapid rise of the Chinese economy, especially China's WTO accession , poses both an opportunity and a threat for ASEAN. On the one hand, the steady increase in bilateral trade and China's FDI in ASEAN indicates that China is bec oming a key force in driving ASEAN's economic growth. A China-ASEAN can further enhance this bilateral economic cooperation, and as a result further boost ASEAN 's economic growth. On the other hand, the creation of an FTA with China, ASEAN hopes, will enable China and ASEAN to specialize and integrate according to thei r respective comparative advantage, thereby avoiding direct competition in expor t markets and FDI.
