Clinical Effect of Needle Knife Based on the Five-point Positioning Method in Treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of needle knife based on the five-point localization method in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Methods A total of 60 patients who met the diagnostic criteria were randomly divided into control group and treatment group, with 30 patients in each group. The patients in the control group were given needle knife based on the classical positioning method, and those in the treatment group were given needle knife based on the five-point positioning method. The two groups were compared in terms of visual analogue scale (VAS) score, Western Ontario and McMaster universities osteoarthritis index (WOMAC), and modified Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) score before and after treatment, as well as short- and long-term overall response. Results After treatment, both groups had significant reductions in VAS score and WOMAC score and a significant increase in modified HSS score (P<0.05), and there were significant differences in the above indices between the two groups (P<0.05). The treatment group had a better short-term overall response than the control group (P<0.05), and there was no significant difference in overall response between the two groups at the 1-month outpatient follow-up after treatment (P>0.05). Conclusion Needle knife based on the five-point positioning method and the classical positioning method can alleviate pain and improve function in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, with comparable clinical efficacy, while needle knife based on the five-point positioning method has better short-term efficacy and less pain for patients.
