The Developments and Prospects of the European Political Integration

The European political integration has undergone three stages.Apparently,the foreign policy cooperation between the European countries is closer than before.However,the divergent interests between the Member States have weakened the influences of the EU on the international affairs.The Lisbon Treaty has significantly transformed its traditional foreign and security system,thus creating a new framework of "One Triangle and Two Systems".It means that the Lisbon Treaty has built up a new personnel system,a new foreign decision process and a new administrative structure.The potential power that will be released by this new constellation would significantly increase the external capability of the EU,which will enable it to become a more influential global actor and in turn contributes greatly to its becoming a new power on the international political arena.
