20世纪初叶引入我国教会大学的英语教学新方法评析

19世纪末 ,为满足社会学英语的需要 ,教会学校开始普遍开设英语课程。在西方教育改革运动的影响下 ,“古安系列教学法”(GouinSeriesMethod)在 2 0世纪初叶悄然引入我国教会大学 ,并随后在其他教会学校盛行。它打破了我国晚清盛行的“语法翻译教学法”一统天下的局面。与“语法翻译教学法”相比 ,“古安系列教学法”最大的优点是讲课的生动性和学生的直接参与性 ,但也有其不足。不过 ,“古安系列教学法”是我国晚清英语教学方法的一个巨大进步 ,对初学英语的学者来说 ,更是一种良好的方法

Analysis of the New English-Teaching Methodology Introduced into Mission Universities in China

At the end of the 19th century, English became a focus of attention in Chinese society. To satisfy the social demands for English, most mission schools began to offer English courses. Under the influence of the Reform Movement in the West, the Gouin Series Method was introduced into mission universities in China at the earliest beginning of the 20th century and became popular in other mission schools afterwards. It made a breakthrough in the only Grammar-Translation method in the late Qing Dynasty. In spite of some weakness, its strong points lay in the lively teaching and students' participation. Anyway, the Gouin Series Method greatly improved the English teaching of the late Qing Dynasty and furthermore, it is a good method for beginners of English.
