Identity Crises and Independence Drive in Taiwan

This paper describes the individual and government identity crises in Taiwan and how they are developed.It focuses on how the identity crises,independence drive,and democracy developed side by side in Taiwan in the past three decades.This unique and entangled development improves democracy in Taiwan on the one hand but pushes the contradictions between the Taiwan Straits toward confrontation on the other.It may also push Taiwan into a catastrophe of war.After analyzing the realities and options faced by the population and government in Taiwan,it has suggested practical solutions for the current identity crises.
