犯罪心理中的侠义与广义问题困扰着理论研究与实践工作。作为学科概念的犯罪心理学和作为犯罪心理学最基本概念的犯罪心理必须明确。犯罪心理学研究的对象是确定的，犯罪心理学的定义不应有广义与狭义之分。犯罪心理是对犯罪心理现象本质特征的概括，它反映出犯罪心理现象的内在联系。可以有不同种类的犯罪心理，但是不应有广义与狭义犯罪心理之说。
