论白先勇小说的漂泊主题及其美学意涵

On the Wandering Theme of Pai Hsienyung's Novels and Its Aesthetic Implication

Wandering refers to a state of indeterminate whereabouts,which agrees with the society of Taiwan in the middle of the 20th century.The wandering theme of Taiwan literature is presented in the works of a group of writers with the label of“mainlanders”,including Pai Hsienyung,Wang Wenxing,Yu Guangzhong,Yu Lihua and Nie Hualing,etc.As a representative of these writers,Pai Hsiengyung's novels are also marked with a strong brand of the times.Looking at the wandering theme of his novels,we can observe three aspects that are mutually connected:the feeling of no dependence in emotion,the feeling of no home in space and the feeling of powerlessness in time.These three seemingly negative wandering emotions,in fact,convey to readers the common beauty of loneliness,tragedy and poetry through Pai Hsienyung's words.
