Chinese Observations on International Law

Abstract:This commentary presents Chinese observations on some importantcontemporary issues of international law. In an effort to clarifyChina's position on the principle of sovereignty, which is oftenmisinterpreted in the West, the speaker analyses the principleof sovereignty against the current debate on the changing natureof international legal order and highlights the arguments relatingto the fragmentation of international law, the responsibilityto protect, and international criminal jurisdiction, from thepoint of view of China and the wider developing world.
