A Commentary on Nigerian Constitutional Law

As the constitution in most African countries,Nigeria constitution makes a start in colonial period,and suffers the profound influence of the constitution model and constitution principle of former suzerain.The Nigeria constitution walked one tortuous exploring road since its independence in 1960,and experienced the transition from people-elected government to the military government and to people-elected government again.Along with the expansion of democracy tide in African countries,Nigeria held the multi-party general election in 1999,and issues the new constitution.But,after the new constitution is issued,it suffered the criticism from domestic and abroad academic circles,and also is faced with the fixed question in practice.Understanding the developing road and the perfect constitution system,and thoroughly discussing the difficult position and outlet of Nigerian constitutional development will contribute to know better of present situation of African constitutions and their developing trends,and also benefits the constitutional building in our country.
