Nowadays the modes of teaching oral English in many universi ties are s till on a low level, and their aims are not clear enough either. That is the may cause of students' poor oral communicative competence.. The application of comm unicative approach in teaching is helpful to improve this situation. The appro ach can make full use of communicative function of oral English and it requires that teachers should create language environment which is close to real life. T hey should focus on stimulating students' activeness and internal motivation s o that they can express their ideas and feelings with oral English, with certain aim and creativeness , and finally improve their communicative ability . During the course of teaching, there is a clear aim and a gradual process in which changes take place from amount to quality.
