Abstract:The urbanization experiences of Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe are examined, with emphasis on the effectiveness of policies designed to influence urbanization. The first part of the study describes the measures adopted; the second part attempts to evaluate their effectiveness as well as their impact on poverty and inequality.
