摘 要: | IT is still possible, though rare, to see elderly Chinese ladies with impossibly small feet, walking along with a slightly staggering gait, with the help of at least one stick. These nonagenarian women, remnants of the millennial tradition of foot binding unique to China, become fewer every day. There will soon be no trace of the long-standing custom that still prevailed during their childhood.
