Public Health Legal Preparedness for the 21st Century

Before serving in this capacity, he served as Associate Director for Policy, Program Development and Academic Affairs in the CDC's Public Health Practice Program Office and as Acting Deputy Director of the office. He received his doctoral degree in political science from the University of Chicago.;Richard A. Goodman, M.D., J.D., M.P.H., is with the Financial Management Office and the Public Health Law Program of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Goodman, who has worked for the CDC since 1978, has held assignments in state health department and academic settings, and for a decade served as Editor-in-chief of the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (h4MWR) series.;Kathy Cahill, M.P.H., is the Associate Director for Policy, Planning and Evaluation at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Earlier, Ms. Cahill directed CDC's Office of Managed Care and the Immunization Services Division, National Immunization Program.;Edward L. Baker, Jr., M.D., M.P.H., is Assistant Surgeon General and Director of the Public Health Practice Program Office at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Previously, he was Deputy Director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). He is board certified in internal medicine and occupational medicine.
