Comparative Analysis on Practice of Direct Election to a Union Chairperson with Relevant Rules and Regulations-- Taking a Certain Southern City as an Example

The direct election to a union chairperson is considered as a significant measure of internal mechanism reform in trade union organizations. However, some comrades in trade unions maintain that the above-mentioned election mode only implements the old rules and regulations about union election. In fact, the new ideas of the experimental direct election are the choice of candidates of union chairperson and deputy union chairperson, the choice of proposers and the procedure of examination and agreement. The direct election in a certain southern city, as an experimental unit, is more democratic than the one in force, whose federation of trade unions prescribes that the candidates of union chairperson and electors are chosen according to democratic process. The experimental city advances the course of democratization.
