Abstract: | Felis catus hairs from different parts of its body were examined. Examination of some hair parameters allow the author to propose the following strategy of cat identification: 1) hair length divides cats into long- and short-haired; 2) identification of the species: a) long-haired--by medullary substance/hair thickness ratio; b) short-haired--by the presence or absence of osteal and transition hairs, by thickness of the osteal hairs. This scheme allows identification of the species of an individual cat. |
