CORRELATES OF CONSUMER PARTICIPATION IN HEALTH PLANNING AGENCIES: FINDINGS AND IMPLICATIONS FROM A NATIONAL SURVEY

Affiliation:BARRY CHECKOWAY is associate professor of social work at the University of Michigan. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and taught there and at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His work o n social policy planning, citizen participation, and community organization has been published in national and international journals.;THOMAS W. O'ROURKE, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Health Education, with joint appointments in the Schools of Clinical Medicine and Public Health, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests include the development, implementation, and evaluation of health programs designed t o improve the framework for planning and delivering health services. Dr. O'Rourke has published extensively in major health education, policy, and administration journals.;DAVID BULL, M.S., is a graduate student in the Department of Health and Safety Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
