Abstract:This paper gathers, presents, and evaluates current state of economic research concerning the interconnection between occupational licensing (and other occupational) restrictions and quality of service. It considers empirical evidence on the effect of licensing on quality of service delivered; uses a simple model to examine the distinction between this type of quality and the more crucial aspect, quality received; and summarizes the empirical evidence on quality received.
