Social capital. an interdisciplinary new concept, has aroused much attention in the field of social sciences throughout the world considering its meaning, measurement and functions. Because of its various definitions, it is very difficult to clarify its measurement. However, as an intangible asset originated from the social network, social capital does exert influences on the society and economic activities. The positive significance of social capital to economic development is built on social coordination. Further study of social capital theories will help improve the efficiency of social capital management and ensure the full play of social coordination.
