He has been involved with research on the measurement of natural resource and related service values for over a decade. His work has involved conceptual measures of welfare change, the development of nonmarket valuation techniques, and the empirical application of these techniques.;Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of California-Davis. He has published extensively on natural resource economics topic areas, providing a blend between his experience with management decisionmaking and academic interests. His articles appear in leading journals such as Land Economics, Journal of Environmental Management, and Journal of Leisure Research. Formerly, Dr. Loomis was a resource economist with the Western Energy and Land Use Team of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
