中国特色社会主义道路的探索始于以毛泽东为核心的党的第一代中央领导集体。尽管毛泽东的探索出现一些失误,但我们仍然不能因此否认他的艰苦探索,否定他的探索对后来中国特色社会主义道路形成的作用。以邓小平为核心的党的第二代领导集体所开创的中国特色社会主义道路,是在继承以毛泽东为代表的第一代领导集体探索成果的基础上开辟的。即使是毛泽东晚期犯下了一些严重错误,也为后人总结教训、修正错误、找到出路提供了观照。
