A HISTORY OF MUSIC EDUCATION BY THE RUSSIAN IMMIGRANTS IN HARBIN

Some Russian immigrants devoted themselves to music education in Harbin from l92l to 1962 and set up six regular music schools successively, which were the first lot of West music schools founded in china and trained a good number of men for music profession. These schools had some characters such as high quality in teachers, regular professional training and art practice attached to a top priority. These Russian educators played an very important role in the process of spreading the West music to China.
