Exchange of Buddhist Culture between China and Southeast Asia during the Wei , Jin and Northern-Southern Dynasties

During the Wei, Jin, Northern and Southern Dynasties, the exchange of Buddhist culture constituted an important aspect of the mutual intercourse between China and Southeast Asia, which fully embodied the close relations of proceeding abreast and complementing each other between material and moral cultures. During this period, the numerous Buddhist scriptures and activities of their translation brought about by Chinese and foreign Buddhist monks traveling between China and Southeast Asia or coming via the latter greatly promoted the dissemination of Buddhist culture in China, laying a solid foundation for the further deepening and development of the exchange of Buddhist culture between China and Southeast Asia during the Sui and Tang Dynasties.
