正Tibetan opera,an intangible cultural heritage important to the life,festivals and religious activities of Tibetans,was included in 2009 on the UNESCO world oral intangible cultural heritage list,an indication of its cultural value and the urgency to see it passed on.The central and local government have made preserving Tibetan opera a priority,and a more systematic,stable mechanism for its inheritance is being proposed.     

Cuotaiji,An Ancient Nuo Play of the Yi Ethnic Group

The Nuo play of southwest China＇s Yi ethnic group is also known as ＂Cuotaiji＂ in the local dialect, which means ＂play about human evolution.＂ The Chinese government included it in the first list of national intangible cultural heritage in 2006.

THE Ministry of Culture recently stripped 105 institutions of their authority to preserve items listed as state level intangible cultural heritage. Reasons given included the absence of legal person status and an independent corporate bank account; also that administrative changes inhibited capacity to fulfill obligations. Six were found to be failing in their duties     

To Protect Qiang Culture Is to Protect Ancient Chinese Civilization

Li Shaoming, research fellow of the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Nationalities： The core of Qiang culture is intangible cultural heritage, and the protection of Qiang intangible cultural heritage depends on protecting the Qiang people. I suggest setting up a Qiang Culture Conservation Area in Sichuan, so as to reestablish an “ecological environment” for Qiang culture.

Protect Folk Culture Promoting the protection of the nation's intangible cultural heritage and the passing down of ancient folk culture has recently drawn widespread attention in China. Some experts have even gone as far as proposing quick legislation to protect them as soon as possible.     

Iian Longxin＇s Musical Journey

Tian Longxin is known today as the ＂living soul of Tu-jia music＂ and ＂leader of aboriginal Tujia tblk music in China.＂ Born in Hunan Province, Tian is fluent in the Tujia language and an expert in Tujia folk music. Having devoted himself to preserving traditional Chinese culture, Tian has amassed a library, of more than 3.8 million char-acters on Tujia folk music and operas. He has also composed tunes and performed many times for international audiences. In 2008, he was recognized as an ＂inheritor of national intangible cultural heritage.＂     

On the Productive Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Handicrafts and Its Human Values---A Case Study of the ＂Wuhan Model＂

Among the three methods of intangible cultural heritage （ICH） protection--salvage, integrity and productivity~--productive protection is the most complex and controversial one.
