The most common job amongst expats in Beijing,by far,is teaching English.Whether it is a full-time occupation or a way to earn some extra cash alongside studies or other work,many members of the expat community have experience working as teachers. Code-switching in the English as a foreign language(EFL) classroom is a disputable subject in the academic area. There are two main schools of thought toward English-Chinese code-switching. One holds an opinion that the code switching as a barrier for the first language may produce interference and negative transfer, while another argues code-switching as a facilitator for the first language may provide the most effective meanings of learning. The focus of the argument is to use or not use the mother tongue. In this paper, an attempt has been made to investigate whether it is necessary to use code-switching in the college English class from the perspective of English learners. By doing so, a questionnaire has been made to reveal the expectations of students with different English proficiency toward code-switching. And then the paper has provided suggestions on the way of using appropriate code-switching strategies in class to facilitate EFL learning.  相似文献

Celebrated as the "Little UN," in 40 years the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) has trained some 60,000 international students from 167 countries. As the only international university in China teaching Chinese language and culture to foreign students, it has more foreign students than Chinese. Korean students have formed a Korean community in a district near the university, where they rent apartments and stage their own activities. There is a special Ten-thousand-country Wall inside the campus, on which are engraved the names of foreign students' countries. 语言认同是一种复杂的文化心理趋同现象,是其它认同的基础,深刻地影响着人们的语言行为。跨境民族的国家通用语认同、民族语认同和外语认同直接关系到国家发展战略、边疆民族地区社会安全稳定和民族语言文化的传承与保护。我国的跨境民族多,但国内学者关于跨境民族语言认同的研究还很少。基于现有语言认同研究相关文献,本文分析讨论了语言认同的基本概念和跨境民族语言认同研究现状,并提出了未来研究我国跨境民族语言认同的路径和建议。  相似文献

Trauma-informed care is a rapidly emerging approach in child welfare and is significantly aligned with the core tenets and techniques of solution-focused practice. The integration of solution-focused practices and trauma-informed care offers an alternative to the problem-solving method frequently employed in child welfare. This paper describes and demonstrates how using a Solution-Focused Trauma-Informed Care (SF-TIC) approach can shift individuals and systems from a problem-solving focus to solution building. SF-TIC provides individuals with concrete skills, language and knowledge to effectively avoid inadvertent re-traumatization. Evaluation of this approach is in its infancy and future research is warranted.  相似文献

媒体,包括报纸、刊物、广播、广告等形式,都是交织着各种不同话语的场域。对一定范围内媒体内容的解读和分析,有助于理解媒介语言背后的文化意识和潜在话语力量的相互关系。本文的写作,便是基于这一基本观点的实践和尝试———选取广州《新快报》2004年5月出版的母亲节专题文章为分析对象,力图厘清其中不同话语的存在以及叙述策略;并通过分析表明,在“二十一世纪初的广州”这样一个特定的历史情境之下,《新快报》以怎样的方式切入“母亲节”这一主题设定,又以怎样的方式对该主题进行书写,塑造着“母亲”的角色内涵———更重要的是,文本话语当中的权力关系所呈现的各种矛盾和冲突,能否启示着另一种或者多种的阅读方式和策略。  相似文献
