Writing On: Robert Creeley's The Death of Venus

This is a piece which explores how the reading of a poem, in being mediated both by the reading of other poems and by a certain experience of reading as such, involves the constitution of a layered, non-unified, field of readings. Movable pillars: Organizing dance 1956–1978, by Katja Kolcio

This essay frames an original mad lib representing a conversation between two friends about romance novels. The author attempts to locate a path to feminism in romance-novel culture in the communities built around a commonality of shame wrought by reading these books. She argues that this shame both draws readers together and undermines the explicit goals of the mainstream romance publishing industry. She asks readers to join in by completing the included mad lib with a friend.

论辩方对有利于被告人证据的阅卷权

2012年《刑事诉讼法》关于辩方阅卷范围的规定引发了关于控方是否有义务将其掌握的全部证据,尤其是有利于被告人证据提交给辩方问题的讨论。鉴于控方在证据获取中的绝对优势地位,从维持控辩平等、实现有效辩护、维系检察官客观义务、探求实体真实的角度出发,由辩方掌握全面阅卷权有其理论正当性,而不同法系国家中辩方从控方获取有利于被告人信息的比较法考察也印证了这一判断,目前关键在于如何通过制度设计保障辩方这一阅卷权的实现,其他国家的制度设计可以给我们一些启示。     

Slide-writing as Site-writing: A Performative Reading of the Women’s Art Library Slides

Abstract

The artist’s 35?mm slide consists of a photographic image framed by a slide mount she inscribes with writing and symbols that direct the slide’s future use. In this article, I consider how these artists’ writings that are held, suspended, in the WAL slide collection are a vibrant reading material that performs the slides as a feminist text. In my joint role as curator and researcher, I explore how I used photography to initiate a performative reading of the slide collection that politicizes the work of image reproductions.

试论中职生英语有效阅读教学策略

英语作为一种世界上广泛使用的交际工具,我国英语教学的目的是培养和发展学生在课堂之外有效使用这种交际工具的能力.在听、说、读、写四种技能中,阅读是学习英语的中国学生最重要的技能,因为它是学习者获取知识最主要的渠道,能够为学生提供学习信息,有助于强化词汇学习和语法学习.但是,我国英语教学的问题是,学习者缺乏良好的阅读习惯,很多学生阅读理解能力差,这严重阻碍口语能力的发展.因而,在中职学校的英语教学中,提高学生的阅读技能、培养他们的阅读习惯,是至关重要的.本文中,作者首先作析了中职学生英语阅读能力的现状,展示阅读问卷中揭示的关于阅读方面的问题;其次,作者讨论了阅读概念,简介了阅读理解的一些理论,并探讨了影响阅读理解的相关因素;再则,作者着重阐述了一些有效的教学策略,诸如激发学生的阅读兴趣,扩大词汇量,教授正确使用英语词典的方法,语篇分析和理解句法功能等,旨在解决学生阅读中存在的问题.作者希望这些方法可以帮助学生有效地开展阅读,有助于英语教师的阅读教学.     

Contrasting psychosocial outcomes in Chinese delinquent adolescents with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder symptoms and/or reading disability

Many studies reported high prevalence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and reading disability (RD) among delinquent adolescents. Very few have examined their psychosocial outcomes. The present study compared the psychosocial outcomes and delinquency outcomes in Chinese juvenile delinquents with ADHD symptoms (AS) and/or RD. Delinquents with AS (n = 29), RD (n = 24) and their comorbidity (n = 35) were recruited from juvenile institutions along with typically developing controls (n = 29) from local schools; all completed questionnaire on psychosocial characteristics and delinquency outcomes. Participants with AS were associated with poor academic orientation whereas participants with RD were characterized with negative main effects across all psychosocial constructs being tested. The comorbid group performed similar to the RD group yet it exhibited a significantly higher delinquency severity. The present findings provide a better picture of the unique psychosocial profile associated with different groups, allowing for better matching for future identification and intervention programme.
