The Balance Between Coercion and Accommodation

1. Introduction
On the morning of April 1st, 2001, a U.S. EP-3 surveillance aircraft was conducting an intelligence flight along the Chinese territorial border in the airspace south-east of China＇s Hainan Island. Two Chinese fighter jets intercepted the spy plane and followed its flight, as is considered ordinary international practice. For reasons unknown, the EP-3 airplane made a sudden maneuver and crashed into one of the Chinese planes. The Chinese plane dropped into the sea, the pilot missing. The U.S. spy plane was also severely damaged. It intruded into Chinese territorial space and landed on Hainan Island without official permission from the Chinese side. After landing, the spy plane and 24 crew on board were detained by the Chinese authorities. This air collision episode was the first of its kind in the China-U.S. relations and an urgent diplomatic crisis ensued.     

Commode Cardia—Death by Valsalva Maneuver: A Case Series

The Valsalva maneuver is used in clinical medicine for the diagnosis and/or treatment of various cardiovascular conditions. It can also be used in activities of daily living, such as defecation. Due to the cardiovascular effects produced during the Valsalva maneuver, it may be contraindicated in certain medical conditions and could be a trigger of sudden cardiac death. The incidence and prevalence of death following Valsalva maneuver in the presence of underlying cardiovascular disease, or “commode cardia,” has not been examined. In 2012, the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office (Detroit, MI) investigated 21 deaths that occurred on the toilet, fourteen of which were due to cardiovascular disease. In another 31 deaths in the bathroom due to cardiovascular disease, the possibility that the decedent defecated immediately prior to death could not be excluded. Hence, the incidence of commode cardia in this population ranges from 2.3 to 7.4% of all cardiovascular‐related deaths.

香港警察的教育训练与内地的公安教育各有特点,虽然香港与内地社会制度不同、经济发展水平各异,不可比因素很多,但香港警察在教育训练方面的不少做法,对我们很有启发。我们一方面要保持和发扬自己的优势、长处,另一方面也要认真学习借鉴香港警方好的经验,以解决当前我们公安教育教学脱离实际、公安教材滞后于公安工作等现实问题。     

对加强公安机关战术演习的思考

近年来 ,社会治安形势异常严峻 ,严重暴力犯罪和各种群体性事件屡有发生。为了有效地打击严重暴力犯罪和处置各种群体性事件 ,公安机关有必要对战术演习的问题进行研究。这样 ,才能缩短训战距离 ,提高公安机关整体战斗力。     

宫廷理筋手法治疗纤维肌痛综合征临床观察

目的 观察宫廷理筋手法治疗纤维肌痛的疗效。方法 应用宫廷理筋手法对30例纤维肌痛患者进行6周的治疗，采用纤维肌痛影响量表（fibromyalgia impact questionnaire, FIQ）测评患者的生活质量，采用数字分级量表（numerical rating scale, NRS）和压痛点数评价疼痛的变化情况。结果 与治疗前比较，治疗后患者的FIQ和NRS评分均显著降低，压痛点数显著减少，差异有统计学意义（P＜0.05）。结论 宫廷理筋手法对纤维肌痛综合征有显著的临床疗效。
