回顾中央政府对西藏的政策

西藏是中国的一个边疆民族地区。自和平解放以来，经过民主改革，废除了腐朽残酷的封建农奴制度，建立起社会主义制度，成立了西藏自治区，百万农奴翻身做主人。此后，西藏与全国一样，实行改革开放，经济社会发展迅速，城乡面貌发生了翻天覆地的变化。这些成绩的取得，得益于中央政府在西藏实行了一整套行之有效的方针政策。实践证明，这些方针政策是符合西藏实际，得到西藏各族人民衷心拥护的。

Retrospective on the Central Government＇ s Policy towards Tibet

Tibet is a frontier ethnic region of China. Since its peaceful liberation in 1951 and after undergoing democratic reforms between 1959 and 1961, it abolished its brutal and corrupt system of feudal serfdom, established the socialist system and founded the Tibet Autonomous Region in 1965, with millions of serfs standing up and becoming masters of their own fate. Since then, just as in other parts of China, Tibet has initiated its reform and opening-up, a process attended by rapid economic and social development and groundbreaking changes in its urban and rural aspects.
