Since coming to power in 2009, the Obama administration has ' prioritized domestic reconstruction, redesigning and rebalancingAmerica's foreign strategies in order to revitalize the United States' economic competitiveness. It has pushed forward social reforms and other major domestic policy agendas) In his second term, president Obama and his administration will continue to conceive of governance as "domestic affairs with the support of overseas performance." In terms of Washingtoffs policy towards China, the United States' economic, political and social landscape will continue to bring about profound changes in China, while China has had an increasingly prominent impact on American society as well as the policy-decision environment faced by the United States government in its dealings with China.  相似文献

On September 21, 2005, the Deputy Secretary of the United States Robert B. Zoellick in his speech at the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations pointed out that, the United States agrees that China is taking a peacefully developing path and it's a successful way of opening and joining the economic globalization that "'no other newly emerged power has ever taken." Zoellick emphasized that the United States should "encourage China to be a responsible stakeholder in the international system. " If both the United States and China take the strategic interest into consideration, Zoellick's speech will definitely have positive impact on the Sino- U.S. relations 'future.  相似文献

Geographically,India is not a country in the region of the South China Sea,nor is it a country concerned in the issue on a geopolitical level or a US ally in the Asia-Pacific region. It has been very cautious to avoid taking sides in the South China Sea issue. However, since Modi took office in 2014,changes have taken place in the external environment that India faces,in maritime safety strategy,as well as in India's policies toward the US and China.India is becoming increasingly active in the issue of the South China Sea,voicing criticism and taking precautions against China. While India's policy on the South China Sea will not be completely the same as that of the United States and Japan, due to concerns for its own interests in the future,it is quite possible that India will take advantage of the issue of the South China Sea and will adopt more comprehensive ways to get involved in the issue.  相似文献

The United States is the most developed country in the world and the number one energy-importing country. China is the largest developing country and the number two energy-importing country. The energy issue is thus a key issue in Sino-US Relations. The United States has been on bad terms with some energy-rich "problem countries", while the energy cooperation between China and these countries is starting to go well. Sino-US relations now affect the whole world, and China's and the United States' relations with these key energy producers--the 'third party factor' may become a major source of competition and conflict between the two powers.  相似文献

As China’s economy and global influence increase, its international relations are quickly changing. As more credence is given to predictions of a"China Century"to follow the"American Century,"interest is also increasing in the adjustments China is making to its strategic diplomacy as it prepares to take the first chair from the United States. The conceptual innovation in China’s diplomacy in 2014 is a significant harbinger in the eyes of many as to how this China Century will shape up.While China’s new diplomacy is praised, opinion differs on its future intentions. After a series of proposals were put forward at summit meetings of CICA(Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in  相似文献

In recent years, India has actively pursued an all-directional diplomatic strategy, attaching much importance to developing its relations with major powers. In particular, due to the great efforts made by the United States to draw India over to its side, relations between India and the United States have witnessed a fast development, which has attracted worldwide attention. It seems that this trend of laying special emphasis by India on its relations with the United States will continue for a considerably long period. However, it is unlikely that India will make a fundamental change to its independent and non-aligned foreign policy. It is expected that India will continue to consolidate and develop its traditional friendly relations with Russia, steadily improve its relations with China and strengthen its relations with the European Union. In Asia, India will continue to actively promote its external relations and enhance its influence in the region through bilateral as well as multilateral channels.  相似文献

BJP secured victory in India's recent general election with a landslide win and new Prime Minister Narendra Medi's foreign policy has become an issue of wide attention. According to the author, BJP government will continue India's effort to be among global powers; emphasize its engagement with major powers such as the US and China while safeguard its strategic autonomy; and improve its troubled ties with Pakistan. India will conduct pragmatic diplomacy in economic ccoporation, non-traditional and maritime security, and its Look East thrust. A stable Sino-India relationship is expectably likely during Medi's tenure in view of the robust bilateral economic engagement despite difficulty in resolving their border disputes.  相似文献

The United States is supposed to complete its withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan before the end of 2014(mainly the combat forces, not necessarily all its forces). With the time drawing near, a range of issues regarding the ties between the US and Central Asia loom. Just as the Afghanistan War has greatly changed American policy towards Central Asia, its ending will equally alter America's Central Asia policy.  相似文献

Africa plays an important role in China's rise. Sino-African ties bolsters up Chinese influence. African enthusiasm for taking a leaf from China's experience to shake off poverty has boosted China's soft power. Africa defends China as a responsible partner against Western slander of practicing neocolonialism. Africa provides China with the driving force for sustainable development. Africa supports China's national unification and demonstrates political solidarity with China. In recent years Africa's success in enhancing collective strength through deepening solidarity has won admiration and respect. Its strategic status is on a steady rise. It is our sincere hope that Africa will walk on the road of prosperity as soon as possible.  相似文献

Over the past three decades, China-U.S. economic and trade relations have been growing rapidly along with vigorous economic development of China in the course of its reform and opening-up. Economic exchanges and trade between the two countries virtually started from scratch, but now China and the United States have become two of the world's largest economies and trading partners. The two economies are more interdependent than ever before, each being the other's major partner: China is America's second largest trading partner, third largest export market, second largest source of import and largest holder of its treasury bonds; the United States is China's largest trading partner, largest export market and third largest outlet for foreign direct investment (FDI).  相似文献

In the course of climate policy making, the stakeholders have formed up various interest groups engaged in fierce race for the interest of their own. The contest has not only affected the process of the Congressional climate legislation, but also influenced the administration's climate policy making and the judiciary ruling on relevant climate issues.  相似文献

"Strategic Reassurance" and the Future of China-U.S. Relations   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
"Strategic reassurance," a new concept in Obama's China policy, should be fostered bilaterally by dialogue designed to highlight and reinforce the areas of common interests while addressing the sources of mistrust directly. Yet in practice it seems that U.S. strategic reassurance has contrasted all China's core interests. The United States and China must recognize their different social systems and asymmetrical national strength in seeking to realize strategic stability. Crisis control requires sophisticated management of both side, especially on sensitive issues like weapons sales, the Dalai Lama, and the South China Sea dispute.  相似文献

In December 2013,the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) formally announced that it would wind down the size of its large-scale asset purchase program. This formally set in motion the exit of quantitative easing (QE).However,at present, the American unemployment rate is still relatively high, the real estate market is gloomy, inflation is too low,the balance sheet is facing an unexpected increase in risks, and policies are confionted with cost pressures.Under such circumstances, the Fed is faced with multiple challenges in the tapering of QE.QE policy has made great contributions to helping the United States to shake off financial crisis, and the safe and smooth exit of the policy is of the utmost importance to the recovery of the U.S.economy and the reshaping of U.S.advantages.In addition, the Fed's monetary policy reversal will engender spillover risks and challenges for China's economy.  相似文献

As China and the United States explore how to craft a "new type" .or "new model" of bilateral relations, a key challenge will be deepening cooperation on a series of shared security issues. Alongside problems on the Korean Peninsula, cyber security, and other matters, is preserving peace and stability in East Asia's maritime regions, especially in the context of ongoing disputes in the Yellow, East China, and South China seas.  相似文献

After experiencing many ups and downs in their relationship, China and Russia have forged a strategic partnership since the advent of the 21stcentury.While Russia's relations with the United States and the European Union have hit a rough patch, its ties with China are on an upward trend.Meanwhile, the United States and Europe are closely watching the two big neighbors in case of the event of a creation of an anti-Western "axis."Grounded in an analysis of the unique advantages of China-Russia relations, this paper argues that the two countries have established a high level of political trust and will continue to work in concert on all fronts. It also looks back at how China entered into alliances throughout its history and the lessons it has learned from those experiences. It emphasizes that China does not deem the establishment of exclusive alliances or political blocs as a foreign policy option.  相似文献
